Types of custom-made furniture (2)

In addition to paying attention to the interior panels of custom-made furniture, the exterior finishes must also be carefully selected, as finishes such as fire-resistant rubber sheets and wood veneers will affect the appearance and feel of the furniture.

exterior finish

1) Wood veneer
Price: High Advantages: Natural texture, soft and warm texture Disadvantages: Average wear resistance

The veneer is made of thin slices of real wood, which is more expensive and has a warm texture. In addition to natural-grained veneers, there are also cheaper artificial-grained veneers. The veneer can also be treated with color-seeking to change the depth of the wood color; the veneer can also be baked to create a wood-grained paint effect.

2) Baked paint
Price: Medium Advantages: Rich colors, easy to care Disadvantages: Average wear resistance

The baked lacquer is rich in color, and can produce different luster effects such as matte, glossy and metal surfaces. It can also create a wood grain effect for furniture. For baked varnish with wood grain effect, the wood veneer should be pasted on the board first, and then Baking paint is more expensive.

3) Fireproof rubber sheet
Price: low to high Advantages: wear-resistant, heat-resistant, easy to clean Disadvantages: corners need special treatment

Fireproof rubber boards are generally cheaper than wood boards and baked paint. Fireproof rubber sheet is made by pressing decorative paper with melamine resin. Because of its wear-resistant, moisture-proof and flame-retardant properties, it has become the mainstream choice for kitchen cabinet finishes. Pay attention when choosing fire-resistant rubber sheets. If no additional edge-sealing glue is added, black edges may be exposed at the corners.

4) Crystal plate
Price: Low Pros: Glossy effect Disadvantages: Not wearable, loses luster over time

The surface of the crystal board is a colored transparent acrylic board with a gloss effect, and the flower marks will be particularly conspicuous on the glossy surface.

5) Panels with built-in finishes: Ecological panels <br>Price: Medium Advantages: Comes with finishes, the bottom surface has the same look and feel Disadvantages: Variation in quality

There are many different names for eco-boards, such as anti-splash boards and MAXI boards. The official name is "Melamine Faced Board". Eco-boards are produced with a veneer attached, and are made of a material similar to fire-resistant plywood, made of printed textured paper impregnated with melamine resin. Eco-boards are most commonly made of MDF or bagasse board as the substrate, and the melamine board of the bagasse board is called "MFC board" (Melamine Faced Chipboard).
